My Favorites; Dr. Mary Claire Haver & Brené Brown
Two of my favorite minds come together in an amazing podcast focused on ‘The Pause’, menopause. I have learned so much from Dr. Mary Claire Haver and Brené Brown.
I highly recommend Dr. Mary Claire Haver’s books, The New Menopause and The Galveston Diet. Two books that will get you through menopause and perimenopause. And if, like me, you find yourself struggling to find the time to sit down and read a book, check out these two books on Audible.com. I love that Dr. Haver reads them both herself, adding that layer of personal passion to the context.
I also LOVE Brené Brown. I think she does amazing work researching shame, vulnerability, and the effects these emotions have on individuals as well as their communities. Her podcasts Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead are insightful, inspiring, and educating podcasts worth your time.
Together, these two groundbreaking women are rocking it with honesty, personal history, and they share deeply personal experiences with perimenopause and menopause. Both are known for their deep shares and willingness to be vulnerable, not only in this episode but throughout their platforms. They both show us that we all have really hard times, we suffer with grief, managing our lives, and our families, and we do it all while going through what can be considered the hardest transition of our lives, menopause.
Dr. Mary Claire Haver provides the tool kit to support our lives while we thrive through what might otherwise be the most challenging time. In this podcast with Brené Brown, we also hear about the research and social structures that have kept knowledge and education on women’s health from becoming mainstream. There is hope! The future in healthcare is changing for women, this next generation of medical providers is demanding it.
If you haven’t checked out either of these two women, I can’t recommend them more highly. Seriously, your lifespan depends on it!! When I coach my patients through hormone imbalances and menopause/ perimenopause, I use the education and recommendations I learned in her book to support my Chinese medicine training and experience.
