Take a Bath

Early on in my life my mother taught me of the benefit to taking baths. We would sit and visit with each other (very important mother-daughter bonding time) while the other one was having a bath. We would chat, laugh, and she would teach me things. It was a special time. Bath time was frequent for both of us and I always think of her when I get into a hot bath to soak my bones.

I have since learned of the healing qualities of water. For many of us, soaking in water or water sports and activities are ways in which we refill our battery, get grounded, plug in and care for ourselves.

Simply adding Epsom salts to your bath is a great start. These salts are full of magnesium which assists with sleep, relaxes tight muscles, supports digestive movement, minimises anxiety and feels amazing. For some variety, alternate this with Himalayan sea salt to support skin health and hydration.. If you are looking to keeping your experience, add a few drops of essential oil to your salted bath.

Looking for more? Are you an experienced soaker in need of new soaking ideas? My absolute favourite is a muscle melting salt and tea soak. I have included the recipe below. When Im low on an ingredient I substitute with the essential oil in place of the actual plant.

Add the following to a muslin bag or large tea bag (in order to minimise the mess in your tub);

-3 tablespoons dried sage (the type you cook with)

-3 tablespoons dried lemon balm

-3 drops eucalyptus oil

-3 drops rosemary oil

tie this around your facet so that the water runs through as you fill the tub. Add 2 cups epsom salt and 1 cup baking soda. Sit at least 20 minutes.
